Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of the same questions. What is airbrush makeup? Why is it better than traditional liquids or powders? Do I really need a pro to do my makeup for my special event or wedding? On this Makeup Monday I’m going to take a minute to answer ALL of these questions, and any others you might have.
Airbrush Makeup is the application of spraying on a fine mist of foundation onto the skin. Using an airbrushing compressor with a pen-like tip and a needle trigger (your husbands, fiancés, and boyfriends think I’m a tattoo artist or about to paint a car when I pull out my equipment), the system mists the makeup upon the face creating a natural glow and even skin tone. Airbrush makeup offers flawless coverage, without looking or feeling like you are wearing makeup. The airbrush makeup that I use is silicone based and will last 16+ hours without budging or caking. Unlike your traditional liquids and powders, it is also sweat and water-resistant!
For all my engaged Beauties about to get married, you have LONG wedding days of moving from here to there, from ceremonies and pictures outside in the heat, to lavish receptions with dancing and cake smashing. I don’t want the makeup look that you chose to melt off in the heat or humidity, or smear from the tears that are bound to make an appearance on your big day, or wipe off as you dab those cake crumbs and frosting from your face. That is why I highly recommend airbrush makeup for my brides, but also for all of my other clients as well. If you are having photos done, you want your skin to look perfect like the magazines, airbrush allows you to achieve that. Speaking of photos, airbrush makeup makes the skin appear absolutely flawless n photos, it is HD photo ready makeup for all of your photos and even videos without looking overdone or caked on. And if you just want to have a great night on the town and look your best, airbrush can do that for you too and it won’t sweat off while you shimmy and shake all night. Airbrush foundation can also be custom mixed so you are getting the exact color your need rather than a selected color from a bottle that may not match your skin 100 percent. In my book, that’s a 10/10.
If that hasn’t convinced you to hire a pro for your special event, here’s a few reasons why you should and why it’s worth the money. A trained, certified, and licensed makeup artist uses safe sanitation protocols. Your cousin’s friend Becky who said she would do it for $50 bucks hasn’t spent countless hours in school and advanced trainings learning the best techniques and color matching skills for your specific skin type, face shape, and eye and hair color. You pay for so much more than just a makeup application when you hire an experienced makeup artist for your photos or event. You get someone who is trained and has taken the time to learn and grow in their art. They know what techniques to use to best enhance each of your features and how certain products and environmental factors like the flash of a camera and the sun and shade are going react with your skin and affect your photos and how the makeup looks in person.
Let’s recap some benefits to using airbrush makeup are that it’s long-lasting, customized for your specific skin color, reads stunning on camera, it’s waterproof, does not rub off on clothes, and is the perfect cover up for all unwanted dark circles, blemishes, and even tattoos. Airbrushing is perfect for all skin types, especially those with oily or problematic skin conditions and those with uneven skin texture. A licensed and certified artist is important for making sure you are getting the most for your money as they are trained and stay up to date on the latest trends and techniques.
